WALLBANGERS, THE
"Over the last few years I have, from time to time, come up with a riff or a piece of music which I broadly thought of as rock or felt wouldn't fit with the other song based material I was working on. I kept storing these away and often thought of doing something with them. By the time Bang! approached me about putting together a one-offl EP for them I had about 6 such pieces. It seemed like the obvious thing to do with this material. As a special limited release and considering the kind of thing Bang! are often associated with it seemed perfect for this stuff.
So I went out and found a couple of people to collaborate with on the lyrics. I wrote two of the song lyrics myself but it's not something I do much of so I was happy to enlist the help of Tex Perkins on one song and Loene Carmen and her daughter Holiday on another. The final trip was getting Rocky Features out of retirement to play drums. He hadn't done anything since the 'Honeymoon in Red' album.
All in all, great fun for me. The music was fun to play and the lyrics have a funny side too. Go Wallbangers! And remember to kick those drugs!"
