The Scoundrelles are an occasionally swirling group of London musicians who were originally brought together to record Tony Thewliss demos for the Scientists LP The Human Jukebox. The band went into hiatus whilst Thewlis returned briefly to Australia and hijacked various Scoundrelles tunes for The Interstellar Villains. Since then, like on Mission Impossible, the files of certain Scoundrelles have been pulled together to perform and record whenever the planets are in misalignment and something needs to be done about it. Their self-released, debut CD Organic Molecules In Action, recorded at Toe Rag Studios by Liam Watson, is available from Amazon or CD Baby. A new album Atomic Batteries To Power, recorded in London and Memphis, will be released on CD and double-gatefold vinyl by Bang! Records in 2008. Various permutations of the Scoundrelles have performed and recorded with Chris Wilson, Amy Rigby, The Barracudas and Sky Saxon (not to mention The Stripchords and ongoing Scientists’ “reformations”). There is an incestuous, or possibly umbilical, relationship between the Scoundrelles and Venus Ray.
